Come audition for the UMass Ballroom Dance Team!

There is no fee to audition.

 

When and where are tryouts?

The UMass Ballroom Dance Team hosts tryouts a couple of weeks after the beginning of each semester. Tryouts usually occur after one or two of our weekly social lessons so that you can have a preview of what ballroom dancing is like. The time and place of upcoming tryouts will be found at the beginning of each semester on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Can I tryout if i am not a umass student?

Unfortunately we are unable to extend team membership to non-UMass students. We did used to be able to but UMass Club Sports rules now prohibit this. We encourage Western Mass community members who are interested in ballroom to remain in contact with us! You are more than welcome at any of our social events and we are disheartened to not be able to have you on our team.

What if I've never ballroom danced before?

No problem! We will teach you everything you need to know at tryouts. Upper-level team members will go through the dances you will be trying out with from the beginning, giving you time to practice and ask questions.

 

Do I need to prepare anything for tryouts?

No, you are not expected to prepare anything. Just come ready to dance!

 

What should I wear?

If you have dance shoes, you may wear them. If not, it is perfectly acceptable to wear sneakers or just your socks. Dress at tryouts is casual. Wear whatever is comfortable for you to dance in.

 

How do I find out if I made the team?

Results will be emailed to you and posted on Instagram page shortly after tryouts.
